About Laparoscopy

Laparoscopic-06

Laparoscopy is a procedure that allows the surgeon to reach the inside of the abdomen without having to make a large cut.

A laparoscope is a tube-like structure equipped with a camera and a high-intensity light. It sends real-time images to an external monitor which allows the surgeon to look at the organs.

It requires a small incision on the abdomen and is inserted through a cut as small as 0.5 cm to 1.0 cm.

Types of Diseases

Laparoscopic surgery can be performed on different types of diseases that affect the abdomen.

Acid Reflux

A condition in which stomach acid flows back into the tube connecting the throat and stomach causing heartburn.

Gallbladder Disorders

The gallbladder is an organ that helps to digest fat. There are many medical conditions associated with it.

GI Cancers

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is a condition in which a tumour grows inside the digestive tract.

Hernias

A condition in which part of an organ (usually intestines) gets through the wall of a space that contains it.
